After getting selected for the top 4 in Huawei Seeds for the Future Program on September 12 2023 and getting the opportunity to get once in a Lifetime chance to visit Huawei HQ in China while visiting and experiencing tech in Shenzhen/Shanghai, I could not process the things happening to me as everything was happening in a rush from Applying and interviewing to being Selected.
We(Me, Jyotish Kumar Jha, Sahaj Raj Malla & Kasmi Thapa) were rushed towards Applying for the Visas and had our back packed ASAP. But I was super lucky that only my Semester End Exam was finished a few days earlier.
After that we had our departure flight at 14 September then due to some delay in our flight we reached to Guangzhou,Shenzhen on 15 September 12PM where we will spend 2 more days. Also, Ramu Pandey dai were also there for the event as he is part of ITU(International Telecommunication Union) so our journey was a quite a bit fun with his presence.
We were picked up by one of the representative from Huawei and after 3 hours of Ride we reached to our Beautiful Hotel, Amber Plaza at Longgang disrict. Then we were allocated with our Individual rooms and after that at around 8:30PM we rushed down to the Cafeteria for First Ever Chinese Meal where the food were diverse of around 50+ varieties, including sushi, chinese soups, sea foods, fruits, desserts and many more. Overall, our day was full of travelling and getting one step closer to experiencing life style of china.
My 2nd Day Blog to china is almost completed so will be publishing that very soon, stay tuned ✌️
First Impressions of China
- The adaptation of technology is massive
- Also, they have hugely considered specially abled person scenarios in the use cases of technology and also of Childs & Pregnant women. Especially, the hot water despenser at the airport took my attention which had a special child lock mode.
- The roads were full of BYD,Tesla, BMW, Mercedes, and many other popular brands which made us wooah throughout the Journey upto our hotel.
- Also there were not much of promotional stuffs all around roads, and buildings like it is at Nepal which increased the beauty of roads and nature.
- There were many Large Residential Apartments instead of sparsed small Houses and buildings at Shenzhen.
- The Driver, Police and every ones day to day life depends massively on their smartphones as on many place they need to pay online via AliPay or some other payment gateway working in china.
- Since Meta Products like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Whatsapp and Google Products like Google Maps, Email doesn’t work there so all of the people there use We Chat which is a Super App of China.
- China has a special type of Map unlike Google Maps which provides lot of assistance to driver by alerting them about forecoming scenarios like Road Blockage, Construction Activities, Lane Changes, and more. And while looking at the maps from the passenger seat made me realize about the comfort a driver gets via the guidance of the map.
- Mainly, It’s very difficult to communicate with chinese as almost 99% of them don’t even understand basic English. So our driver had to use a Translator App to communicate with us.
- The food is of completely different taste and flavours, and I find Beef / Pork everywhere so had to be careful with the food choice 😀 also shrimp and shrimppppp
